Our Projects

Preparing for the future is important to us.

Vales Point Projects

We are committed to having in place a robust approach to environmental stewardship that is focused on responsible management of natural resources, protecting local biodiversity, increasing energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and contributing towards a more circular economy by minimising waste.

  • Vales Point Solar

The Vales Point Solar Project (SSD8533 Vales Point Solar Farm | Planning Portal - Department of Planning and Environment) was approved in October 2018 for up to 55MW solar to be located on the rehabilitated areas of the Vales Point ash dam. A final investment decision to proceed with the project is on hold pending the impact and roll-out of the NSW Renewable Energy Zones and Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap.
  • Vales Point Battery Energy Storage System

Delta, in partnership with Samsung C&T, is exploring the development of a large-scale battery energy storage system at the Vales Point Power Station site.  The proposed project, once complete, will provide essential energy storage capacity to help keep NSW’s electricity grid stable and reliable as more renewable energy, including solar and wind, is added to the grid.
  • Biomass Co-firing

We are reducing greenhouse emissions at Vales Point Power Station by up to 20,000 tonnes each year by co-firing quantities of renewable biomass fuels with coal.  Currently, the biomass fuel includes saw mill residues, a by-product of forestry operations, and construction and demolition waste such as timber pallets.
  • Seagrass meadows restoration

We are working with University of NSW, Bahtabah Local Aboriginal Land Council, Gamay Rangers and Port Authority NSW on a research focus on the restoration and preservation of seagrass meadows in NSW.
  • Ash recycling

Coal Combustion Products (CCP) such as ash, a by-product of our operations, presents a valuable opportunity for reuse in cement and concrete products. Utilising waste ash in these products reduces the demand for virgin natural resources, lowers the embodied carbon in construction projects and aligns with corporate, state and federal circular economy and sustainability targets.

We are committed to supporting works that focus on the restoration and preservation of seagrass meadows in NSW
